There has been ZERO from the artist commemorating African slaves. In every single artist statement I’ve read, there has been NO mention of slaves. They are, according to him, about ENVIRONMENTALISM.
yea, i just read his bio and he is white and guyanese (i am not aware of all the ethnic/racial makeups this could be). he is definitely white passing tho in looks. and his bio: http://www.underwatersculpture.com/pages/artist/bio.htm
says nothing about slavery, their interest in commemorating the loss of slaves in the manner described under the photo, etc.
so source, i think you are right. but i don’t understand why they have such Black features if this is just about “environmentalism”. location? i dunno. that sucks tho.
